What To Do In Newport, RI
Hi besties! I just got back from an amazing weekend in Newport, RI with my boyfriend. We went on a whim without knowing much about it, but fell in love and it will absolutely be our new summer weekend spot. Here’s the tea from your favorite #wannabetravelinfluencer:
Where we stayed:
The Outlook Inn was a stunning 11 room bed & breakfast with updated rooms and gourmet breakfast included, not to mention an amazing location! 5-10 minutes walk to all restaurants and 30 minute walk to the beach. The Innkeeper was so sweet and the rooms had EVERYTHING.
Where we ate:
Bar ‘Cino was our favorite - we went twice! The Short Rib was 10/10 and the Pizzas were to die for. Also check out the bruschetta & the bolognese!
Diego’s was highly recommended and amazing for a late lunch - a ton of margarita options and tacos/burritos. I loved the margs but the Tacos were too big for me - great quality of food :)
Brick Alley Pub had some incredible sandwiches but didn’t love their dinner entrees
The Nitro Bar was amazing iced coffee & a cute area to work if you’re in the area
Check out The Corner Cafe for a great post-beach salad & sandwich
What we did:
If you like anything having to do with rich people culture, you will LOVE the Newport Mansions. Get a ticket to visit the grounds and picnic either at The Elms or The Breakers - was like a scene out of a movie we LOVED. Tickets here! And here is the picnic basket I brought
Cliff’s Walk was so fun - you can do a lot or a little but it’s 3.5 miles total. Stunning mansions & coastal views :) I wish we did the whole thing but absolutely check it out.
The Beach: Easton’s beach is an amazing beach that has plenty of space! It was walkable from our hotel and we went 2 days in a row. There’s restrooms, beach rentals, food, and Del’s lemonade so you can make a day of it!
What we wish we did: Go on a boat! Newport Is the sailing capital of the world but we didn’t find time to plan this - absolutely will be when we get back.
Transportation & travel warning:
We took the Amtrak to Kingston, RI, expecting to take an uber to Newport, but Ubers & Lyfts are SUPER scarce and impossible to get! If you don’t want to drive, def look into staying near Thames st which is walkable (30m to the beach) or bring a car!
Newport is super walkable, but we ended up taking the bus to save time which was lovely & clean. When we arrived Thursday, we took the bus from the Amtrak to downtown Newport was only an hour-long, and we got a cab (from Orange Cab Company) from Newport to the Railroad station for $75 on the way back. Pricey, but it evened out!
Obsessed with Newport, and we will absolutely be back this summer. If you want to see what I wore, check out my IG and the next post!
